Tuck in Your AC for the Winter

Air Conditioner Accessories

After a long hot summer, it’s time for your central air conditioning unit to take a rest. Get your AC ready for hibernation – all it takes is four simple steps:

  1. Locate the electrical circuit on your HVAC unit and turn it to the off position.

  2. Clear leaves, sticks, and other debris from the base of the unit, and rinse away any dirt, dust, bugs, and droppings from the cover with a garden hose. Allow the unit to dry completely.

  3. Wrap any exposed pipes with Frost King Tubular Foam and Rubber Pipe Insulation to prevent the pipes from freezing and bursting in cold weather. The pre-slit pipe covers slip over pipes quickly and easily, and come in a variety of sizes. Just cut the foam to the right length and slip it on.

  4. Cover the unit with a Frost King Central Air Conditioner Cover, which is made of heavy gauge plastic to stand up to the elements, and has elastic straps to provide a secure fit. Watch our video for complete installation instructions.

Check your unit periodically throughout the winter to make sure the cover is in place and that snow, ice, and debris has not accumulated on the top of the unit
