Systems Update

Pipe & Duct Insulation

Before outdoor projects take over your DIY to-do list, devote some time to updating the important—and often forgotten—systems that keep your home running safely and smoothly.

Time to vent. The National Fire Protection Association says that the leading cause of home clothes dryer fires is failure to clean the vents. An annual inspection and cleaning can protect your home – and your family. Check that the exhaust vent pipe is clear, and that the outdoor vent flap can open when the dryer is in use. Hire a service to clean the lint out of the vent pipe, or do it yourself using a special bristle brush tool made to clean and remove the lint that has built up in the hose.

Seal your ducts. Air leaks in your heating and cooling ducts can reduce your home’s efficiency by up to 30%. Make your home more efficient – and save on cooling costs during the heat of summer – by sealing ductwork with Frost King Self-Adhesive Foil and Foam Duct Insulation.  This inexpensive quick fix can save you up to $100 on your home’s energy bills in just one year.

Keep things comfortable. Now that you’ve reduced ductwork leaks, make air distribution in your rooms more efficient by installing Frost King Heat/Air Deflectors on the vents throughout your home. Point the vents up to direct cool air towards the ceiling for improved cooling; come fall, turn the deflectors down to direct warm air down. Watch our installation video.
